Q: What advice do you have for aspiring writers?
A: Remember that everything you want to learn about being a writer (or practically anything else, for that matter) is written down somewhere. Never stop being a student. I’m on my fourth novel, and I still read about how to write. In any field, there’s way too much to learn. Read, study, learn, absorb what is useful, and above all else— write, write, write. The number one difference between a writer and a person who wants to be a writer is that the writer writes. |
